Hello from LA CALIFORNIA everyone!
Yeaaaaah so basically we were sitting on the flight in Philly for 3 hours before taking off, so I missed my connecting flight to Hong Kong. I arrived at 1AM and didn't get a hotel until 5:30 lol. Lots of things kept going wrong with finding a hotel like miscommunication on how to do it, my shuttle drove right by me, and there was no reservation when I finally got to the hotel. Oh they also lost one of my bags, but I got it back yesterday! And the baggage people were really nice to me, I left them a note thanking them for their kindness and I signed it "the emotional red head" hehe. I include a picture of me crying at the airport, I thought it was kinda silly lol.
The og back up plan after Wednesdays fiasco was I was going to fly out at 12:30 AM this morning to Hong Kong, but I couldn't get hotel reservations for quarantine from the hotel in time (which I need to get on the plane) so I will be in the US for the rest of the transfer. I haven't been officially reassigned to LA yet so idk if I'll be here exactly, but we'll see.
Once I met my companions tho things started really looking up!!!! It's been 4 days but I feel like I've seen 10 miracles. One guy we called was having a really bad day and he said our call helped him know God was there for him and loves him. So glad we were lead to do that
I'm also a Visitor Center sister right now hehe. My comps work there so I've been joining them, I've helped with two tour's so far. Oh they also both speak mandarin! Soooo we can't really lang tudy together but it's been fun watching them practice/teach in mandarin. One of my comps mom speaks Canto/another elder does so I've been able to practice with them! Super cool. One time I we called someone who only speaks Spanish so I was like "I know a Lil Spanish I got this" but as soon as I started talking Canto came out ehehe. I Lil embarrassing but also ig a good sign cuz it used to be spamish came out when I tried to speak canto.
It's quite the adjustment to get into mission life, but I do be adjusting. Thanks for all the prayers sent my way these past couple days! Much love to you all.
OH also I kinda wanna cut bangs. If you have strong opinions about that please share.
